Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking appoints Francisco Sottomayor as Head of Global Markets for Spain & Portugal
Societe Generale announces the appointment of Francisco Sottomayor as Head of Global Markets for Spain and Portugal. Francisco’s main objective will be to drive the expansion of the bank’s client franchise in Iberia, by intensifying commercial efforts and optimizing the generation of business in the region, an important area of development for Societe Generale.
Based in Madrid, Francisco reports locally to Donato González, Group Country Head of Societe Generale in Spain and Portugal, as well as to Albert Loo, Global Head of Fixed Income & Currencies & Cross-Asset Solution Sales, and Peter McGahan, Global Head of Equities & Equity Derivatives & Cross-Asset Solutions Sales, from a market perspective. The appointment was effective from August 21st 2017.
With 19 years of experience in financial markets, Francisco will work to boost our platform in Europe and bring added value to our business in Spain and Portugal thanks to his product expertise and his extensive experience in different areas of the business like IPO’s, M&A or Equity Capital Markets. “Francisco’s experience with local clients, his knowledge, leadership and extensive contacts will no doubt help to consolidate our client franchise in Spain and Portugal”, comments Donato González.

Francisco Sottomayor worked as Head of Investment Banking for Axia Ventures Group in Lisbon during the last year. Previously he spent 16 years at Credit Suisse managing teams from London and Madrid to execute strategic transactions in Spain and Portugal as well as in Latin America.
